Welcome to my website.
I am Professor of Economic History in the Department of History, Economics and Society and a researcher at the Paul Bairoch Institute of Economic History at the University of Geneva. I hold a PhD in Economics from Sciences Po Paris and have professional experience with the Mexican government, the Mexican Senate, the private sector, and international organizations. My research focuses on the history of financial crises and sovereign defaults, the evolution of international financial institutions, and the role of central banking and economic development in Latin America. I have published extensively in leading academic journals and edited volumes, contributing to debates on the long-term dynamics of global finance and development. I currently serve as Book Review Editor of The Journal of Economic History and am a member of the academic councils of the European Association for Banking and Financial History (EABH), the Swiss Association of Economic and Social History, and the Swiss Society of Americanists. As of February 2025, I also serve as Vice-Dean for Research at the University of Geneva.
